Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website. This statement sets out where it stands, including the parts that are not yet good enough.
What we have done
- Every page has a "skip to content" link so you can bypass the navigation.
- Every image has alternative text, or is marked as decorative where it carries no information.
- Pages use one main heading and a logical heading order, so screen readers and the browser's outline both make sense.
- The whole site can be used with a keyboard. The navigation dropdown opens on focus as well as hover, and interactive elements show a visible focus outline.
- Landmarks are marked up properly, a labelled navigation region, a single main region, and a footer, so assistive technology can jump between them.
- Every form field has a real, associated label, and status messages are announced via a live region rather than only appearing visually.
- Text reflows down to a 320 pixel-wide screen without horizontal scrolling.
- Images declare their dimensions, so content does not jump around while the page loads.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the scrolling client-logo strip stops animating and becomes a static row, and transitions are disabled.
- Nora, the AI assistant, can be opened and closed from the keyboard and dismissed with the Escape key.
Known problems
We would rather list these than claim the site is perfect.
- Contrast of the coral accent colour. The coral used for links, small labels and button text has a contrast ratio of about 2.6:1 against white, where WCAG 2.2 AA asks for 4.5:1 on body-size text. It is part of the firm's existing brand palette. A darker shade of the same colour that meets the standard has been prepared, and we are deciding how to apply it without losing the brand. Until then, some small coral text will be harder to read than it should be. Note that no information is conveyed by colour alone.
- Some article content is inherited. Older articles were migrated from the previous website. Their structure is sound, but we have not individually reviewed every table and nested list in them for screen-reader clarity.
- The homepage hero is a video. It is decorative, silent and hidden from assistive technology, but it plays automatically and cannot currently be paused. It stops nothing else on the page from working.
- The content editor at /admin/ is a third-party tool we do not control, and we have not assessed it. It is for staff, not visitors.
How we tested
Automated checks across every page for heading structure, alternative text, form labelling, duplicate identifiers, reflow at narrow widths and colour contrast ratios, plus manual keyboard testing. We have not yet carried out a formal audit against WCAG 2.2 with disabled users or a specialist assessor, so we are not claiming a conformance level.
